25 August, 2010 Dear Parents, Greetings and welcome to another exciting school year at Egypt’s Proudest Campus, The American International School! We hope you had an outstanding summer and you are ready to help your child get back to their journey to educational excellence. We at AIS have been preparing for your children to return and we are looking forward to having all our students back to class on the first day of school. As you know, we originally scheduled the first day of school for the 13th of September 2010. Upon the direction of the Ministry of Education, AIS is going to make our first day of school the 18th of September 2010 to match all other Egyptian schools. As you all know, AIS is fully accredited with the Egyptian Ministry of Education as well as being fully accredited with the Middle States Association of Schools and Colleges in America and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Organization in Geneva, Switzerland. We appreciate the direction from the Ministry of Education of Egypt. We apologize if this change causes any hardship upon your family. We have contacted you as soon as the Ministry of Education made the decision so you can make any revisions to your travel plans as needed. On a positive note, this change should help our students be properly rested from the vacation of the Holy Month of Ramadan, which will make their first day of class more productive. We also ask that you note the first day of school will be on a Saturday, which is unusual for us, but this will allow us to get school started as soon as possible. We do intend to make up the additional three days of missed school that this directed change will cause. We are currently working on a revised school calendar and we will send this to you as soon as possible so you can update your calendars. All new calendar information will also be posted on our web site at www.aisegypt.com as well as we will send it home with every student once the school year has started. Again, our new school starting date will be Saturday the 18th of September 2010. If you have additional questions please feel free to contact me at bdelbrugge@aisegypt.com or you may call the school at (202) 2618-8400. We hope you continue to have a restful summer and we look forward to seeing all our amazing students on the first day of school! Educationally Yours, Bill Delbrugge Director, American International School Egypt
