An “alumnus” is one of the various titles one bears that gives meaning to one’s life in some aspect. The word alumnus comes from the Latin verb alere, to nourish, and literally means “nourished ones”. This title is earned by the way you think about yourself and by the meaningful experiences you have gained throughout your life.
The education you received at AIS shapes the way you engage and act in the world. Experiences as a student contribute in developing character and reaching a greater level of independence, ultimately preparing one to deal with life’s twists and turns. The relationships developed with colleagues and teachers bond one together and mark time spent at AIS as an important period of one's life.
Established in 1990, AISE provides an American curriculum to an international community of learners. AISE is fully accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MSA), the Council of International Schools (CIS), the International Baccalaureate Program and the Egyptian Ministry of Education.
Until recently we defined our community as students, faculty and staff, but now we need to add our alumni as a critical part of this community as they move on. A great school partly measures its’ worth by its’ alumni. Although you may not physically be located on campus, you remain a valued part of the school’s extended family. With your rich experiences, you can contribute to the educational experience of our students by bringing a real-world perspective to the academic pursuits of our students and faculty.
We at AIS, have in mind the goal of continuous communication with graduates, wherever they may be, because we consider them an essential part of our community. One of the characteristics that distinguishes our school is its’ graduates, who are spreading our name everywhere they go. The world is meeting AIS through you. Our dream is big and we believe that the future does not belong to those who sit on the sidelines, nor does it belong to the cynics. The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams and who have the courage to take risks to achieve it.
You, as alumni, can act as our special ambassador in spreading the word about the exciting developments on campus. You can make presentations to prospective students. You can assist in or lead seminars and workshops. You can provide feedback to our school. You can pass your observations, comments and suggestions to help us grow and achieve our goals and vision.
Our vision is “Raising Student Achievement, Every Day, Every Way,” and with your help we can make this vision a reality. Please join our “Alumni Association” and continue to be a shining star at AIS.
